A scientific seminar was held at the Institute, during which specialists reviewed the progress of ongoing research and outlined a plan of work for the near future. The primary goal of the researchers is to develop new technical requirements and standards to enhance the reliability of shelters and improve rescue equipment.

Specifically, experts are establishing requirements for ventilation systems in protective structures, including anti-blast devices, airtight and shut-off valves, as well as fans with backup manual drives to ensure air supply during power outages. As part of their research, scientists are also analysing the toxicity of combustion products from building materials and updating methodologies for evaluating the fire resistance of structures.

A distinct focus of their work is the improvement of firefighting equipment and personal protective gear for rescuers. The researchers are developing testing methods for monitor nozzles, foam-generating equipment, hose couplings, and suction strainers, alongside adapting firefighters' protective equipment to European standards. Furthermore, a procedure is being established to safely extend the service life of fire protection systems.

All developed solutions will form the basis of new state standards and elevate safety levels across the country.
