Test flights of unmanned aerial vehicles were conducted at the Department of Aviation and Aviation Search and Rescue
The Institute of Public Administration and Research in Civil Protection provides advanced training for the aviation search and rescue specialists who operate in the areas of responsibility of airfields for search and rescue, coordination of aviation search and rescue operations under normal and extreme weather conditions, aviation firefighting.
However, new challenges for the SESU aviation related to the increase in the number of natural and man-made disasters on the territory of Ukraine require an adequate response to their rapid localization and timely elimination of the consequences, which can be largely implemented using both piloted aviation and unmanned aerial systems, especially for operational or 24-hour monitoring of natural ecosystems and high-risk technological facilities.
The Institute is increasing its capaсity in educational activity by introducing modern advanced technologies based on domestic and foreign experience, including the application of unmanned aircraft systems, which are currently actively progressing due to the aerospace and information and telecommunication technology development.
At the Institute’s fire-testing ground, Department of Aviation and Aviation Search and Rescue conducted test flights of DJI MAVIC 3 unmanned aerial vehicles, which were received as charitable aid from the International Research and Exchange Council (IREX) as a part of the “Ukrainian Rapid Response Fund” project implementation.
The main purpose of the test flights was the development of skills and abilities in piloting techniques, air navigation, special use of unmanned aerial vehicles for the emergency prevention and response.
