Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, Andriy Danyk: "Unfortunately, we have painful news from the Dnipropetrovsk region once again. An unidentified explosive item detonated during demining operations in the Samarivskyi district. Nikita Moroz, a sapper with the Main Directorate of the SES of Ukraine in the Dnipropetrovsk Region and a Master Sergeant of the Civil Protection Service, was killed.

Two other members of the pyrotechnic team — senior sapper Viktor Makarenkov and driver-sapper Ihor Filippov — sustained injuries. They are currently under medical supervision, with their condition assessed as moderate. We wish them a speedy recovery!

Nikita suffered injuries incompatible with life. Despite the efforts of medics, he passed away in hospital during resuscitation. He will forever remain 23 years old…

Nikita joined the ranks of the SES just three years ago. During this time, he became part of a pyrotechnic unit — a team that works daily where the ground conceals deadly danger. He is no longer by his colleagues' side, but the memory of him, his reliability, courage, and dedication to duty will remain.

We express our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Nikita Moroz. We share your pain and bow our heads in memory of our colleague. Blessed memory!".
